SocksCap32 — is a program that allows client applications to operate through a SOCKS Proxy server. It intercepts all client network events (TCP/UDP packages) and redirects them without change through a SOCKS-server. The current release of the program is version 1.03, but we do not recommend it. Download SocksCap32 version 2.
- Install the program.
- After installation the program will automatically launch, and be followed by a configuration prompt (you can change the settings later in the File menu>Settings).
Configure as follows:
- SOCKS Server - name or IP-address of your SOCKS server.
- Port - the port number of your SOCKS server (usually 1080);
- Protocol - protocol of your SOCKS server. SOCKS version 5 is currently the most popular;
You can contact your network administrators about these configuration settings.
- Name Resolution - or reliability you can set it to "Attempt local then remote";
- If you use a password-secured SOCKS-server, just select the "Username/Password" check box. The program will then prompt you for a login and password;
- If necessary, in the «Direct Connections» tab specify the addresses your applications will communicate directly with (eg local network servers). This is unlikely to be required with WM Keeper, although other programs may use SocksCap to work properly (particularly MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator). Check with your network administrator about software sharing SOCKS.
- Click "OK".
- Configure the applications.
There are several ways to configure an application to work with SocksCap. The easiest way is to drag a program shortcut into the SocksCap window.
In the menu that appears choose "New application profile".
Click "OK" in the window that appears. A shortcut to the program will appear in the SocksCap window.
- Start the program.
You can double-click on the program icon in the SocksCap window to start it.
However, SocksCap can also work in a windowless mode. In this mode, a SocksCap icon will appear in the system tray – just right-click the icon to select the program you want to start.
You can also create a special shortcut to start a program from SocksCap (this shortcut can be easily located in the Start menu or on the Windows desktop). To do this, drag the shortcut out of the SocksCap windows and onto the desktop.
