If you are using WM Keeper v. 2.4.0.1 or higher:
1) Make sure you have the file with your secret keys (in versions 2.4.0.1-2.4.0.3 the file is called a «backup copy») and that you know the access code for the file (in versions 2.4.0.1-2.4.0. it is called «backup copy password»).
If you don't have the secret keys file or not sure you know the access code, then make a new file while you still have a functional WM Keeper.
To make a new file in WM Keeper go to Menu -> Settings -> Options -> Security -> Save keys to a file. Be careful when entering the access code for the file since it will be saved on your computer and won’t be registered by our server. That is, if you forget your code, we won’t be able to help you restore it. Roughly speaking, forgetting your access code is like zipping your keys to a password-protected archive and then forgetting the password. You are the only one who knew the password and if you forget it, the file is useless.
2) It is desirable to make a backup copy of the purses file (file with the pwm extension). Losing the file is not that critical. You can locate the file in WM Keeper (Menu -> Settings -> Options -> Security). Click on "Save purses to a file".
More about the purses file and what you should do in case you lose it on this webpage.
3) Remember your WM ID and password. Make sure you can access the e-mail account you specified in your WMID registration. You can look up the e-mail address in Menu -> Settings -> Personal information… -> More….
4) After you reinstall Windows (or change PC) you will need to:
download and install Keeper software.
start it and enter your ID and password.
when prompted, choose that you want to use the existing file.
browse to the location of the file with your secret keys (*.kwm-extension file) and enter the access code.
browse to the location of the file with your purses (*.pwm-extension file).
wait till WM Keeper prompts entering a new activation code, check your e-mail and enter the new code.
This is it. Don’t delete the file with your keys but save it to a safe place. Don’t forget the access code.
